Some Thoughts on "Releasing Expectations"

Hello Friends,

One of my recent posts was about leaves falling. And here we are still in October and I can see the snow falling outside! Yikes.

RELEASE

This month, we're focusing on the theme word "release" - and the fact that it means somewhat contradictory things. I was thinking about the need to "release expectations"... On one hand, we build ourselves up for disappointment and pressure when we hold onto our expectations. My window view tells me I clearly need to give up on my expectations for warm, pumpkin-scented evening walks with Harley jumping through colourful piles. And yet, we're also told that we need to release our expectations into the world, hand them out and invite the world to help us, to open up the path to our goals (a recurring theme in books like the Secret, etc. underline this idea).

So what to do with expectations?... does "release" mean giving them up or sharing them?
Maybe the solution is to step away from the contradiction there... I'm all about letting go of those expectations, but setting my "intention". I don't know how I'm going to get there, but I'm not worried, because I know where I'm headed, or at least, why I'm on my way...

Part of letting go of expectations and trying to control everything is adaptation.
