What's Up In 2021?

Happy New Year, Friends!

I know I wasn't the only one who turned a page on 2020 with a sense of relief that the year of "unprecedented" experiences was finally over. I'm not so naive to believe that things will be put right overnight, but I do feel a sense of resolve as I face the months ahead!

THREE WORDS TO SET THE TONE!

For the past 15 years, an annual ritual has been the setting of three words that I become a daily focus in the year ahead. For 2021, "Fun, faith & freedom" spoke loudest. While "fun" was an easy word to decipher (I think we all want a bit more fun this year!),"faith" was a bit of a puzzle for me, having been raised as a humanist. As I journaled my thoughts, I came to realize that I wanted to find a balance between intent and inspiration, between taking initiative and waiting for life's invitations. "Freedom" means, for me, having the space to do both.

I spent most of the holidays doing, well, so very little, as my head and heart debated my options for 2021. Choosing three words to guide me did help me crystallize some ideas I've had for MyArtist.Life that I'll be sharing very soon. :-)

It's not too late to choose your three (or one or two) words for 2021? What do you want to see more of in your life? in your career? Write a list of words that come to mind and then highlight those that you are most drawn to!

I joined the Clubhouse app a few days ago and have been a bit obsessive in listening to the varied discussions in the music sector. Some predictions have live music only restarting in 2022, others are more optimistic about seeing shows happen later this year. Regardless of where the pandemic leaves us, we know that music is essential and that we can become creative in how we better connect with our crew (those fans and friends who care about what we care about)
